*The concentration of Ensign Baxter's fire creates a small gap in the ring of creatures surrounding Beth...but that small gap is all Ensign Lowel needed. In a blur of motion, she manages to rush through the opening, putting a bit of space between her and the monsters. But the moment is all too brief as both she and Baxter watch the tendril break free from LT. Boma's grasp and quickly wind around his neck. Not wanting to risk hitting their teammate with a blast of weapons fire, they rush to help. Nigel and Seth observe the action from a short distance away, both of them having experienced an unexpectant lull from the creatures near them. A strained determination passes between the two, as they attempt to piece together the strange clues of their recent observations.*

It just clicked for me too Constable! Seth, you are the closest. Grab that cookie and get out in the hallway to the Complimentary replicator, NOW!

*Ensign Baxter's fast response prevents the tendril from totally cutting off Boma's air supply, and between the two of them they are able to pry it from around his neck. The lieutenant swallows hoarsely and gulps in a few ragged breaths, while both he and Baxter struggle to maintain control over the flailing creature. Nearby, their teammates press on with even more determination, drawing strength from deep within themselves. Years of training and preparation instinctively free their minds, enabling them to move and react without thought. But in the midst of the battle, unseen by the group, an additional cluster of the monsters emerge from the broken floor panels, and rush toward the team. Before they can respond, the wretched creatures set upon the already fatigued crew, seizing each member of the SST in the twisting, insidious coils. And while the medical team watches in horror at the scene playing out, their attention keeps being pulled back to the small bit of confection a few meters away...*

OOC: Love the guy with the blasters! *A blistering volley of laser fire rips into the swarm, scattering the monsters in every direction as Ensigns Robinson and Dillon rush to help their comrades. The additional firepower catches the creatures in a bit of a cross-fire, providing a chance for the others to regroup and free themselves from the invasive coils. With renewed determination, the team comes together and launches a fierce counterattack of their own. Little by little, the monsters start to loose ground to the coordinated assault, and each meter lost is a mile gained in the psyche and spirit of the security team. On the other end of the platform, seeing the success of their teammates spurs Seth and Nigel into action. Scooping up the tiny cookie, the two of them rush to the nearby replicator and begin to initiate the scanning sequences...*

(Ensign Lowell runs to the Constable's and Lt Boma's aid and motions for Ensign Dillon to accompany her. They both then begin to make an assault on the tendrils before them, firing both there weapons together and keeping the blasts going. Ensign Kyle Robinson heads for the door to the hall right behind Nurse Nigel Black to keep him and the exit as safe as he can. Ensign Baxter, freeing Lt. Boma from the tendril that was wrapping itself around his neck, throws the tendril directly into the weapons fire and watches it disintegrate before their eyes)

*Still unable to move, the small portal next to him provides Bubba with a view of the action taking place a few hundred meters away. Flashes of weapons fire filter outward from the windows lining the TTT platform, playing over the dark void that isolates the pod from the main section. With the mounting frustration of not being able to help his friends compounded by the inability to move, Bubba turns his attention back to the author of his confinement...*
Listen, you piece of...whatever you are! Lemme go! I don't want to get rough, but you're really starting to fry my bacon! I'm warning you, if you don't turn me loose, I'm gonna...I'm gonna open a can of whoop-arse on you like no one has ever seen before! It's gonna go down in the record books as one of the great beatings of all times! It'll make Oliver's thrashing of the Johnson Triplets look like a tip-toe through Scifire's tulip garden! Now...LEMME GO!!!
*Whether unable to understand Bubba's rash threats, or simply choosing to ignore them, the creature maintains its hold. The huge bulk of the entity clings tightly to each contour of Bubba's body, prohibiting all movement except the ability to breathe...and rant and rave. But with the rising level of frustration weighing him down, an even greater tenacity to be free feeds his being, motivating him to carry on with the fight. And as the struggle proceeds, Bubba is once again confronted by a weird feeling...an eerie air of familiarity, almost deja vu-like. Not in the sense of having been in this situation before. But a bizarre, intimate kinship of some kind. But a kinship to whom...or to what? He continues to grapple desperately with his bonds and the unnerving feeling welling up inside, with the creature seemingly content to sustain its insidious hold. And as if things weren't bad enough, another problem comes back to make matters worse. The trickle of blood coming from Bubba's nose that had been curtailed by the medical staff suddenly gives way, gushing outward in an alarming manner. Try as he will to stem the flow, Bubba quickly starts to feel the effects of rapid blood loss. But as a dark fog closes in around him, a powerful light, increasing in brightness and intensity begins to permeate the pod. At the same time, a strong vibration can be felt...and both the light and the vibration seem to be emanating from Bubba's side...the side where he keeps his trusty cleaver, Mr.C...*

OOC: Well, I can't let you guys have all the fun! *The intensity of the light spirals upward, almost doubling with each tick of the clock. Bubba can feel the energy surging through the pod as he fights to keep from blacking out. But the powerful surge seems to create an additional problem with the creature. It begins to clamp down, squeezing harder and harder in a reaction to the magnitude of the light. The pressure on his lungs causes Bubba to gasp for air, making it ever more difficult to shake off the cobwebs and stay focused. The brighter the light, the greater the pressure...each growing exponentially. And after what seems like an eternity, Bubba is unable to hang on any longer, and slips into unconsciousness....*

OOC: Sorry 'bout that. It always happens in the middle of something like this.
*As Ginger reaches for the cookie, she notices a quick movement to her right. A large group of the tendrils, somehow slipping by the security team's blistering volley of fire, has overrun Ensign Lowel's position and taken her down. Five or six of the creatures envelope her, wrapping around each arm and leg and start to drag her toward the darkness of the train tunnel. And although she resists with all her strength, Beth is unable to free herself from the freakish monsters.*

*Nigel and Seth move in for a closer look as Ginger scatters the crushed particles around the platform. With the rest of the security team overwhelmed, trying to avoid being captured, the medical personnel suddenly find themselves in front of the creatures dragging Ensign Lowel toward the tunnel. Without any weapons to defend themselves, a tense look passes between the two as the evil mass moves ever closer. Not willing to allow their friend to be taken, they desperately search for something to use. With a pair of medical scissors in each hand, they prepare to meet the monsters head on. But just before the creatures swarm over them, a screech of pain bursts from the core of each tendril. For some reason, the creatures recoil in agony, releasing Beth in the process. The two nurses rush in to help their fallen comrade, and as they do they notice a thin, powdery line of cookie crumbs next to her...*

*Outside the station, an equally bizarre scene still is unfolding in the security pod. The brightness of the strange light continues to rise, matched in strength by the brutal grasp of the creature, each rising to a frightening degree. Minutes pass, and with the pressure at an almost unbearable level, Bubba's breathing slows, and after a few more ragged breaths...it stops. Immediately, without a moment passing, the once intense light explodes with a brilliance surpassing that of a small sun. Blinding streams radiate in every direction, spilling out into the inky blackness separating the pod from the station with such magnitude that both fade from view under the enormity of the spectacle. The vibration rises also, to such a level that causes a piercing hum to rock the small pod. Seams in the bulkhead begin to shift and bend outward, severing rivets and threatening to compromise the integrity of the entire structure. Sensors back in the main station record the energy being released and activate emergency protocols, diverting power to the shields and locking collision shutters into place while alerting the Captain to the situation. But then...just as abruptly, as if someone had thrown a switch...the light and the vibrations start to diminish, fading away until there is complete silence. The structural integrity of the pod, though battered and stressed, remains intact. A soft stillness descends on the cabin, with Bubba sprawled out in the center of the floor, his chest rising and falling as his breathing returns to normal. The monster, no longer encasing him...is gone...nowhere to be found. Still unconscious, Bubba stretches a bit and rolls onto his back, and with a deep sigh his hand moves down along his side, coming to rest on the hilt of his trusty cleaver...and friend...Mr.C...just as the last traces of light fade back into the shiny blade.*
