OOC: LOL I was thinking about that when I posted to you yesterday. I think we should do just that. Have the Gate already delivered. I think I dropped the ball on this one as much as anyone else! LOL
IC: First, I want to say what a tremendous job the crew of the Titan and my helpful techs did with transporting and installing the Stargate we apprehended from Willoway. It was a god send to have it. It will be enormously helpful for our cross training.

I agree, with out that startgate, we would have a much more difficult time access parts of the galaxy, and having a back up safe location for the Stargate Teams.

Another thing I had wanted to talk to you about, is possible starting locations, for our first official trip through the stargate.

Ia, rerouted an incoming comm from the Alpha site, to the Captain with its completion report and the co-ordinates for the newly installed stargate.

That is perfect timing. Ia, please send those co-ordinates to Nuveena, and now the Major can start this portion of the training, after we do an object test run.

That is a very good question Captain. And actually is part of what I need to discuss with you and the teams. You see, there are specific points or (address') that have to be dialed to open a stable wormhole. Choosing a location is not only important, but may also be hap hazard at best till we dial and see where a stable wormhole takes us. Of course, using our Galaxy as one point in that equation will take us to other Stargates in our Galaxy. One symbol represents your own location, the so-called point of origin. The first seven of a Stargate's chevrons and glyphs are "maps" used to isolate the location of another gate and establish a connection. Chevrons one-through-six are used to designate points in space (i.e. star clusters, constellations and planets) and form three-dimensional coordinates for the destination, while the seventh chevron is coded to the Stargate's current position, to provide a point of origin. When sufficient power is available, the eighth chevron can be used to connect to another galaxy, effectively acting as an "area code" connecting to an entirely different network of Stargates. Here is a drawing I made to show how the surrounding points in space are to be used to create that 3 dimensional destination point. And the DHD will automatically retrieve the address once dialed and keep it for future reference. And it may have address' already stored from the Ancients previous use of it. We just have to look into that further as we learn more through the use of it OOC: This link below offers an great explanation to those that don't understand how the Stargate works... www.bing.com/videos/search?q=how+the+stargate+dhd+works&view=detail&mid=E513CE8AC8F6495DBEA8E513CE8AC8F6495DBEA8&FORM=VIRE

OOC Good video
I would be lying if I didn't say I am nervous about them travelling into the unknown, I also know that this will help Solaris and others to move forward.
I would also like some way of figure out the environment before sending them through, like some sort of camera?
And something to test the environment so we know that we can breath the air, that its the right oxygen mix, or that there is solid ground to stand on.

And I have an answer for that Captain. Its called a MALP. A Mobile Analytic Laboratory Probe. It is small and very easily able travel through the Stargate to other worlds. Here, take a look at this. (He takes a photo out of the folder her has all his info in and shows her this...) It's approximately 4ft tall, 6ft long and about 4ft wide. It has a grappling arm for taking samples upon request and the set of 6 wheels that make it easy to travel through the roughest terrains.
This model has been in production on Solaris for sometime now. Used for just what you are requesting. Many Humans and Aliens alike have purchased such an item to do their testing on extended excursions out in the farthest reaches of space.
There is only one drawback. The company that produces the Malp is....GW Enterprises. Good ol' Willoway is again involved whether we like it or not.

This is a huge help and a huge relief, at least the team won't be going in blind.
The other concern I have and I will have to talk to the Major about this, is: how to address and interact or do not interact with the cultural differences.
Did you say Willoway? How the devil did he get into producing these?

I am not sure Captain. I spoke to a couple of pilots that have purchased this MALP and they say GW Enterprises was the developer. I know it would be more desirable to work with Pebbington-Smythe Industries, but considering the time table we are on, we may have to, as humans say, "bite the bullet" on this one and purchase from Willoway.

As much as there is a cringe factor, I agree, are you able to arrange that? I would say let him know he can bill Solaris Accounts, and if you can order 13 of them.

(Writing the order down in his file) I shall do that Captain, personally! I think I understand him much better now since the reclaiming of the Stargate. When I am done with him, he will understand our need AND his cooperation.

Thank you Ambassador, I greatly appreciate all of your help, espeically with Willoway. I see the Major is still here, are you to call him in here, and are you willing to do a test run with the gate, so the three of us can go to the Alpha site?

Of course Captain. Immediately.

Major Gargobuva, would you join Captain Thomas and myself in the Observation/Comms room please?

Lee, its good to see you, I would like the three of us to make a gate trip to the Alpha site, for a couple of reasons, to expereince gate travel, to check out the Alpha site, and other other issues we might discover.

"Understood. My recommendation is treat it like an actual gate mission. We send a probe through to ensure the air is breathable on the other side and to also make sure we dialed the right address. We also go through armed and with enough provisions for a few days. I realize the alpha site should be properly stocked but it doesn't hurt to go through with everything we would need."

My team was already getting a MALP ready for use Captain, Major. We purchased one from GW Enterprises when I first learned of the device. I can have them deploy it when we are in the Gate Room and ready to enter ourselves. Once we have our results, we can either depart or stand down.
I will be ready in an hour as well.
