Well, that was very smart of the Major to use the probes to contact us in case the Gate wasn't operational or compromised. I wish they were more detailed as to what that "possible trouble" was, but at least we have some type of answer.
It does make sense that the Gate was powered down on their side Captain.

We located the device that was the cause of the Dimensional Rift. Sadly it was destroyed before we could conclude who or what created it. But the danger from it has been avoided.

I would like to answer that. Yes it was.
It was a stargate like object and its diameter was that of a small moon, so a very large ship could travel through it. As it was we took fire from a ship on the other side.
We did send a message through, and received one back, it wasn't friendly.
Ambrosious's ship took fire, and under went some damage.
The scans of the "gate" showed it was made up of some unknown material, and Azcadian metal.

Captain, I believe the object Ia speaks of was able to allow the rift between our dimensions because of this Azcadian element. Some property of it allowed the breakdown of the cohesion between dimensions to deteriorate enough to allow the rift not only to open, but to remain so to give whomever created the Doorway complete access to both Dimensions. But for what reason, that remains unknown.

Ambassador, most defiantly a thread to Solaris.
It does sound dangerous, extremely dangerous and what ever it was: doorway / gateway, destroying it was the best way to maintain safety in our dimension.
I also wonder if Braxxul is connected to this in some way because of the Azcadian element.
Ambrosious Chamblee, have you ever met an Azcadian? I am wondering if it might be possible for you to meet one, and discuss what you two know, I don't know if it will shed any light on this, but one never knows.
Ia, make sure Abrosious gets all the help he needs to repair his ship.
