There are six docking bays around the circumference, all will accommodate a large ship, and each docking bay has the equipment for repairs.

Welcome to The Visitors Docking Platform.
The Platform, when not in use, sits close to Solaris Humanus's hull. When in use it extends out from Solaris's hull. Its purpose is to protect Solaris, it is a separate unit from Solaris.
It is a ship on its own, but also part of Solaris. it has its own Medical, Security, Transporter Station, Quarters, Cafeteria, etc.. Its Primary purpose is to house ships and their crews when its not certain if they are 'safe' enough to land and dock on Solaris itself.
Because it is meant to be separate, in case of emergencies, it can be ejected into space. It also has its own self destruct ability, when activated. As a ship, it is capable of everything a ship is, but only the Senior staff and Security know this.
As a separate entity, from Solaris, the only thing that connects to The Visitors Platform, other then the mechanical unit that extends The Platform is the TTT, but it doesn't completely enter The Visitors Platform, it only travels as far as the extention portion of Solaris that rises it out of Solaris. The TTT platform at the base of the Visitors Platform, where its hull, is its own ship. There is no other connection to Solaris, when extended. No hard wiring, no communications line, but comm's work, no fuel lines, electronic or computer connections, etc... nothing.
For Security, the hall that leads to the TTT platform, there are scanners placed here, that detect any medical, or biological issues, etc... and any weapons. Only those cleared to carry weapons can pass, those with any issues, medical or biological, they will be instantly encased in a force shield.
Only those with current security clearance to carry weapons are able to pass these scanners.
