(After the transport, he looks at his surroundings) Very nice! I give credit to those Ancient Ones. The did know what they were doing when they created this place.

They certainly did, it is a pretty amazing lab, I've not worked in here, but it looks like we have just about everything.

OOC: I apologize for holding up the RP Ia. Real life is getting in the way at my end. I will return Wednesday!!

I think "everything" is an understatement.
(Sets the device on the counter)
Alright, (taking some small tools out of his pocket that he picked up while in his ship) we begin by opening the device and exposing all the moving parts first.

Is there an internal power source?
Even a safety limited power source so when the primary source fails, the backup minimal power supply will ensure its shutting down without electronic feedback? frying the circuits? If so you should ground it first so you won't get a shock.

That is what this is for. (He reaches inside the device and pulls out a crystal after disconnecting it) This is a Deutronium Crystal. A common mineral found in asteroid fields throughout the galaxy. We have learned how to harness their power. It is not only the power source behind the device, but also if cut to these dimensions, allows the device to automatically shut down should any feedback occur. No need for grounding. Do you keep a supply of Deutronium crystals on hand?

That is beautiful.
I can't really say if we do or not.
Do you need more?

I do. One crystal should be inserted into each of the three devices we hope to manufacture. But not to worry.
(Pulling out a small pouch from his pocket)
I brought three from my ship. I suspected you may not have any here. As powerful as they are, they only keep their strength for 100 years after being mined from the asteroids. That may seem like a long time to you and I, but to the Galaxy, its but a mere instance in time!
I just need to shape them into what we need for the devices with one of your lasers.

Smiles at him, as he mentions time, and he might be surprised how long she has been on this station.
Your right, a 100 years is only a mere instance in time, and I am grateful that you have some of the crystals with you.
I am curious as to how you shape them.

(Pulls what looks like a little black plastic piece out of the bag with a crystal) With this. This connector is equipped with a computer chip that once the crystal is set into it, will automatically shape it to not only fit the piece, but to conform to the shape needed to be used in the device. Very clean and streamlined! (sets a crustal onto one of the black pieces and they watch as it morphs into the crystal shape the original device had in it)

Alright then, (as he sets down the first crystal readied to be used)
Shall I begin taking the device apart, piece by piece to be replicated or is there some other way you would like to approach this?

Taking it apart piece by piece would be the best way to replicate it, as its a new device.
Once the piece formatting has been done one by one, assemble it and then put it back into the replicator, and the system will know in the future, the entire structure and its individual pieces, so it won't have to be taken apart again in the future.

Alright then, here we go. Because the crystal does most of the work, there really aren't many pieces to this device. Maybe 8 or 9.
(Takes the front cover off and shows Ia the inside)
As you can see, the Crystal sits in the middle here. (pointing) These thin copper wires are basic electrical wires attached to the black harness that the crystal sits in. That is how the crystal keeps the device away from any feedback. They are also linked to the crystal by its power, hence the purple glow the wires give off as they are still attached.
(Sees a sonic screw driver on the bench)
May I?

Help yourself.
I find this fascinating. The design is simple and brilliant.

Thank you. It is brilliant. My Great Grandfather was instrumental in developing the harnessing technique of this fascinating Crystals.
(detaches the wires from his device, then begins pulling apart the pieces)
There, as you can see, there are only 5 pieces to this whole assembly, not counting the Crystal and the harness.

What illness was that? We have excellent medical facilitates here, if you fear you may have the same illness.

Well, it isn't something we speak about much on my world anymore. The "illness" was bred out of our people years ago. On occasion it resurfaces but it is very rare. Captain Thomas is aware of it. When my Father visited Solaris a few years ago, he was afflicted with it. I would be surprised you don't know anything about it being the AI on the station.
I know I sound like I am running around the topic. (he sets the equipment down on the bench for a moment)
Let me gather my thoughts and try explaining it to you if you really want to hear the story?

I can check the database, but I found its much easier to be "human" by interacting and responding as any human would.
I would like to hear the story.

Then a story it is. (He picks up the device again and begins taking parts off it as he speaks) My people are a peaceful, self educated one and indulge in the Arts. But on that rare occasion, the "illness" rears its ugly head. The illness comes on slowly, very subtle. The afflicted may not even know they have it for years, taking that long to present itself. Being bred out of our DNA has I am sure has been the reason it takes so long to present itself. The illness causes one to sense when someone is dying and just at the point of death, relieves that person of their soul. Feeding off the taken soul, going against our peaceful nature and giving us an unnatural euphoria that eventually becomes an addiction and causing us to become Soul Hunters. One who does not wait for death, but causes it to get their fix of that euphoric feeling. Its obscene and we have dealt with the self hatred the illness makes us all feel. (sets the equipment down again and looks sadly at Ia) And the last known afflicted was my Father, Damar Bnay Chamblee. After being diagnosed with the illness, he fled our world because he knew there was no treatment for the condition, only death. That is when he came upon Solaris Humanus and I am sure was overwhelmed with the prospect of the unsuspecting millions of people here that had souls for the taking. I take on the burden of his crimes as his son and heir and pray daily that I can right the wrongs done to others that he may have come across in his travels when he was afflicted.
