When you first come to the board and if you feel overwhelmed with all the New Posts, you can click on the "Mark all boards read" words / button and it will clear all the New post topics icons so from that day forward you will only get the new post icons when there are new posts.
Its, strangely enough is at the bottom of the board:

(remember, all you have to do is place your mouse over the picture and it will get larger)
