The Danger of Masks in about 3 seconds
OSHA - Is the U.S.A gov't ments standards of health and safety, department of labour.
Even the department of labour - equivalent - in the UK, says they are pretty much useless.
And the department of labour in Ontario Canada, says that they "do not protect"
Will up date the links later.
They keep talking about a second wave, people are becoming oxygen deprived, and their immune systems are lowering, of course they are going to get sick.

At my store, more people have gotten sick just from wearing them. It has been noted here in the states of all of the above.

I'm not surprised, that is in part, I believe where the 2nd wave is going to come from.
Peoples weakened immune systems, and when it gets colder, in the fall, that is more then likely when it will happen. That and sterilising everything is going to effect people.
These masks were only meant to stop doctors drooling on patients they were operating on.
I think people are wearing them out of fear and not enough knowledge on how the immune system works, but they are living in too much fear to even think straight.
Our immune system is based on germs / viruses, we come in contact with millions of germs / virus every day and that is our immune system.
Think of our immune system like a database, or a telephone book for a large city of 10 million. Hold that thought for a second.
In the fall, kids go to school every year and every year they get sick when going to school, they exchange germs, maybe get ill, or a fever, for a few seconds to a few days, and each of these germs / virus is a new entry into that telephone database, so as Adults we have already built up a huge data base of germs/ virus and each of those is a telephone name entry.
So in real life when you come across germs / virus, your body searches its 'database' telephone listings" and sees if you've gotten it in the past, and if you have, it won't effect you. BUT at the same time, each time you come across that same germ / virus it enhances your immune system for it.
We have more then a trillion different "database - telephone listings" in our body that are viruses alone. When we loose contact with these in the real world, our body's database starts to fail.
Its why a lot of seniors without contact with kids, get ill easier and usually die faster, assuming there is no other pre - existing condition, ( call a pre-morbidity, it could be cancer, heart disease, emphysema, anything).
Now you add masks to the equation, and your breathing in your own carbon monoxide, creating oxygen deprivation, and the breathing in your own exhaling of germs. ( Yes, with each breath we exhale GERMS, and viruses. The difference is VIRUS CAN NOT live outside of the body. ) If we saturage our blood stream with carbon monoxide and our own germs, it creates an imbalance in the body = getting sick.
And everything is sterilized, we can't enhance our own immune 'telephone database'.

Face coverings don’t stop you getting the virus, but they do help you stop spreading it. When used with appropriate social distancing they can reduce the reproduction rate significantly.
I know they are uncomfortable but they do make a difference. I don’t think it is fair if staff have to wear them for a full shift but I do strongly think customers should while shopping in enclosed spaces or on public transport. You don’t even need a medical grade mask. Light face coverings do make a difference or if that is still to restrictive visors can be used.
As for immune response the body does need to be exposed to pathogens to build up immunity, but only up to a point.
Your immune system provides innate immunity so when it encounters an antigen it doesn’t need to know anything about it to begin to fight it while the adaptive immune system kicks in to produce specific antibodies targeted to the specific pathogen usually after 4 to 7 days.
Once you fight off an infection your body retains memory cells for a certain amount of time which means next time you can mount a faster defence. However that doesn’t always give you Life long protection. The common cold is caused by corona viruses. Some viruses are very good at evading the immune system, Measles actually wipes out memory cells so if you get measles you loose a lot of your previous immunity.
With Covid-19 it is actually the immune system that is causing the damage in many cases. After about a week the immune system goes into overdrive. This can result in a cytokine storm where cytokine levels get way too high and starts attracting more and more immune cells to the lungs causing more and inflammation which can destroy the lungs, damage other organs and cause changes to blood chemistry which make it too “sticky” causing strokes, heart attacks and clots. A lot of older patients actually die of complications caused by the clotting.
Children who live in overly sterile environments when young don’t get exposed enough for their immune system to learn what is a threat and what isn’t which can lead to it seriously over reacting. But there is a balance.
Children who are otherwise healthy usually don’t get nearly as sick with Covid because their immune systems are still learning and don’t have such a strong immune reaction as adults although that isn’t always the case.
I know a lot of people think the virus is no big deal, but the death rate isn’t the whole story. There are an awful lot of people who survive and are discharged from hospital but will have life long damage to their lungs. The health service here is already trying to plan for how to manage tens of thousands of patients with Covid related fibrosis.
