Answering your question about the engines is not a simply one, because we have 'engines', we have more then one type.
For Warp Drive we have:
Our top speed is warp 4.
If you recall
Warp Speed Multiple of light Speed 1 1x 2 10x 3 39x 4 102x 5 213x 6 392x 7 656x 8 1024x 9 1516x 9.9 3053x 9.975 6395x 9.99 7912x 9.99999 199,516x 10 Infinite Velocity

Believe it or not we also have a Trans Warp Drive.
Trans Warp
Trans warp is faster then warp, and although we can achieve it, we can't not maintain it, it is only good for short bursts in an emergency get away situation.
Quantum Slip Stream
This is also faster then warp, but much more friendly to our station, we can achieve and maintain this for no longer then four hour segments. What Quantum slip stream does , it " creates a subspace tunnel, which is projected ahead of the vessel. Once a ship has entered this tunnel, the forces inside propel it at incredible speed. To maintain the slipstream, a ship has to constantly modify the quantum field with its deflector dish." And because we are so large anything over four hours can cause us or others, as in planetary systems harm. Our Weight and size also takes a considerable amount of energy to maintain, and anything over four hours will compromise other systems on the station. We would need 48 hours to recover before attempting it again.
FTL ( Faster then Light Technologies) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jump_drive
FTL also called a jump drive, "A jump drive is supposed to make a spaceship (or any matter) go from one point in space to another point, which may be several light years away, in a single instant."
We are capable of doing this, but again, we are limited to our size, the most we are to jump is 8 light years away, and it is done with extreme caution, and I would say as a last resort, because we are so large, we don't want to take out a planet or a moon. If we use this option, we need to wait 48 hours before being able to jump again, if in an extreme emergency, we can do it in 24 hours, but that would require taking energy from all systems including life support.
