I believe since the smolt is arriving a couple of weeks early, and with the combination of that and the injury to my ankle, my body is not strong enough to finish. If I don't give birth within the next few minutes, my baby and I shall die! |

Professor, if you would...(sounding winded)...I am now dilated enough to give birth. The smolt is crowning but I cannot finish my part. (feeling pain and showing it in her face and voice) Please if you would, reach down and grab the smolts tail and as you pull it out, press lightly on my stomach.

Please, Professor, don't be alarmed. We are a water species first. And I am sorry, I misspoke. The pain is getting to me so we must hurry. What you will see is a fin, not a tail. That is why we must deliver in our blessed waters on Tera. We are born with fins instead of hands so that the newborn are able to swim in the water. All newborns must learn to swim for the first 6 months of our lives at which time they begin to form into hands.
Ohhhh, Professor, if you see the fin, please pull gently now and press down on my stomach as you do. And be careful pulling on it just in case both fins are not there together. We don't want to break an arm.

Tail? Fins? Oh my goodness! Sorry to make you explain so much while you are trying to get this "child" out of your body. I just hope we don't have any complications.
OK Princess, I do see a bit of what looks like a fin. And it looks like a tail also. Very interesting. Now I am grabbing the fin and as I gently pull on it, I am pressing down on your stomach. So sorry to have to get so personal with you. I had know idea when I got up this morning that I would be delivering a royal Aquan.
*the fin feels slimy to him*
Have I told you that this is especially awkward because I do not like seafood at all?!

You are doing fine. Aaahhhh! Well I thought you were. I am sure the pain is normal, although I don't remember my best friend going through this when she delivered.
I feel your hand on my stomach. Press a little firmer and pull just a bit more on my smolts fin. It should be out a little further now where you can take hold of his appendage and pull with a bit more force.
Ohhhh, do it now Professor, DO IT NOW!

Lemnoc, please go back to the Lab and contact SickBay. Have them transport down here immediately and help the Princess with her soon to be newborn Sloth. Ummm Smith...I mean smolt! Oh god!

That's good to hear Princess. Now I'm seeing another fin. This little one looks as if it is trying to reach out to be born.

Alright Princess, I have an arm...or a leg...well whatever, I have one out and here comes another. There, to appendages with fins. Handsome fins to might I add. They have dark blue spots on them. Very attractive. Unless that's not how they are supposed to look?

Seth, Claya, hurry! You have to transport the Princess to SickBay immediately. She just gave birth and has now fainted. I've got the baby, he is OK as far as I know. Once you get there, set up something that the baby can be in with water. She said he will need water right now to survive. And transport enough of this water that he was born in with him. Its an Aquan thing, but trust me, it needs to be done!
