Haunted Places Near You?
NORTHERN/CENTRAL ONTARIO
There is more in Eastern, & Western Ontario, all on the link above.
Canoe Lake, Algonquin Park
Does legendary landscape artist Tom Thomson still paddle his canoe in the lake where he drowned – or possibly was murdered – in 1917? Witnesses have reported seeing him there, including a Muskoka artist who claims to have actually photographed Thomson’s ghost in 1980.
Bala Bay Inn, Bala
This Muskoka hotel is infamous for unexplained activity. Numerous spirits, including musician and writer E.B. Sutton, are said to be permanent residents. Flying objects, television sets turning on by themselves, mysterious voices and footsteps, and rattling doors are just some of the reported incidents.
Inn at the Falls, Bracebridge
Another old hotel with a handful of guests who won’t check out – even after dying. This one has three ghosts with postmortem nicknames: “Bob,” who hurls objects in the kitchen; “Sarah,” who wanders and cries upstairs; and “Charlie.” Room 105, near the top of the stairs, has been a hotbed for paranormal activity.
White Otter Castle, Turtle River
This hundred-year-old, three-storey log mansion was the home of local eccentric Jimmy McOuat, a mysterious hermit who built the house. McOuat supposedly died in a fishing accident in 1918 – and has since been either seen or “felt” in and around the castle as well as near White Otter Lake.

We have an old abandon retail mall near us that completely shut everything up about 6 years ago. Still abandoned. They say it is now haunted by the residents of the cemetery that is right next door.

I have done a couple of them. The cathedral House Hotel was fun, we started at I think at 9pm and it lasted until around 3am. The night we spent in Damnation Alley and the Covenanter’s Prison however was really quite scary. That was a full overnight finishing at 6am www.cityofthedeadtours.com/tours/Rather than a tour we had the place overnight with EVP detectors etc. www.ukparanormal.co.uk/CoveInvest1.html
