Oh dear. I will go and sit with him for a bit.
Thank you doctor.
*Knocks on Sci’s door*
Sci, may I come in?

*Opens the door and steps inside*
I am sorry I couldn’t get here sooner but with the rescue and casualties from that I haven’t been able to get out of sickbay.
*looks around realising she is still in sickbay*
You know what I mean.
How are you feeling? The EMH suggested you were a little impatient or frustrated?

Yes, I know what you mean, (he says with a smile) It is so good to see you Sharrel. If he just suggested, then he is being kind. I am sure I've given him several headaches today. If that's possible. I'll be fine and I'm ready to bust out of this joint actually. The space is to confined for my liking. Now your SickBay on Solaris feels so much more roomy. Aside from the all the excitement of Talusia, how do you think our 3 day vacation rates on a scale from 1 to 10? 1 being so so to 10 being never going again!

Technically we got back to Solaris before this mission so it doesn’t count as part of the vacation.
How about a 4? I want to do it again but without the spider things or general threat to life.
*looks over his charts*.
It might be a while before we get home, I could bring over some holo projectors from the Demon Hawk and change the view to something more like your gardens?
You still have no feeling in your legs at all?

A 4? That high huh? (smirks) Hmmmmm, I'm closer to feeling an 8 or 9. That's only because I should have gotten off the boat once we got back to Solaris. I'm really regretting that decision. Don't worry with the holographics. I'm sure I won't be here much longer.
(His mood really hits bottom when she brings up his legs)
No. But I understand that's to be expected in these situations. Karma is being a wicked friend. Nothing I don't deserve.

Sci, you know your current inability to run won’t stop me from beating you around the head right? I mean you must know me better than that by now.
*puts the chart down, closes the door over and sits on the side of the bed*
Sci that wasn’t karma or fate it was bad luck. You impacted a wall with a hell of a lot of force. The scans suggest you were far too close to that explosion, I think at least some of the damage was cause by the way it launched and twisted you. Being picked up and carried out didn’t help either but I can’t fault the major for that. You had some smoke inhalation so if he hadn’t gotten you out quickly you could well have died.
There is a lot of swelling and it will take time to go down. Your spine and nerves have suffered a significant insult. They will get over It, assuming you don’t introduce more trauma. If you try to power through it or rush it you could cause permanent damage. At that point we would be looking at cybernetic implants and a much longer period of rehabilitation. And I am not explaining to Perrin that the EMH was wrong about you making a full recovery because you hurt yourself more by being impatient.
There is no one to blame for your injuries except the Drej but if you do further damage you will feel angry and frustrated, Perrin will pick that up, blame himself because he is an empathic teenager who already takes more on his shoulders than he should. Then you will feel bad for making him feel bad.
By that point Sarina will have quit or be in hiding after trying to treat a new born AI with anxiety issues, a frustrated captain who has to come to terms with not being able to jump into the action as much as she wants and a CMO with stress over you and Anita not being wrapped up in cottonwool somewhere.
So then Tanya will get landed with looking after all of us.
Or we could all just acknowledge that your accident sucks, but no one is to blame and that it will take time and work to get you back on your feet.

(With tears in his eyes, her speech warms his heart. He feels the long standing love of a warm, wonderfully long friendship they have shared. But everything eventually comes to an end)
It is Karma Sharrel. This was owed to me from the way I acted on that shiny electric planet we visited on our way to the Omega Station. I took something that wasn't ours and now I am paying for it. I felt so bad for what I did. Letting common sense go and grabbing up the first thing we come across on a world we had never seen before. How I hate myself for doing that. And looking so bad in your eyes and the Captain's. I let you both down. I deserve this.
I don't want Perrin to feel anything bad from me. He already feels guilty, he told me as much. I'm going to ask the EMH to keep Perrin away for the time being. For his own good.
I'm getting older. Not sure how much fight I have left in me. I don't need Perrin fighting for me. And be fore you go there, this is NOT self pity. Just the facts. I think its time to put the old Professor out to pasture. Know of any good old age facilities on Solaris I could be sent too?

Oh hell no, NO, just no.
You are not keeping Perrin away for his own good. You might think you are but all that will do is hurt him.
You decided to adopt that boy, and formal ceremony or not you are a parent. You don’t get to opt out because you feel bad, or guilty or tired.
Yes you acted like an arse on that planet. And we got thrown off and not permitted back. But trust me Sci, the universe has more to worry about than you picking up a shiny that you shouldn’t have.
This was not a target attack on you. The universe just isn’t as ordered or as fair as that. I refuse to believe that the universe wants Perrin to suffer for a simple mistake someone else made and if you give up he suffers. He has already lost way too much, you really think he should lose his family again?
Sci you are a good person, you made a mistake. If you want to do penance then you can do it during physical therapy. I will happily assign the EMH to you for every session.
Yes it would be easier to get you a chair and plant your backside in the garden but life isn’t easy.
You do know Anita and I ditched you on that space station don’t you?
We had to go into a very not nice or safe part of the station where very not nice people would cut your throat to take your credits and not loose a moment’s sleep.
Neither Anita nor I would feel bad if we had to break bones, or heads if we were attacked. You would fight or kill to protect your friends or family but it would haunt you. And neither Anita or I wanted you think less of us when the violence didn’t bother us. You are the best of the three of us. You remind me to be less practical, more human than I was raised to be.
I can’t speak for Anita but I can assure you if letting curiosity override my judgement for a few moments was my biggest regret or transgression my soul would be much lighter and I would be a much better person.
Honestly I think Anita might be in the same boat, which is why she is going to be unhappy staying out of the fights and commanding from a safe position.
If Karma was looking for someone to target you would not be at the top of her list.

Tanya, lets head to the Sick bays to visit Sci, we can talk on the way, as they are out of ear shot of everyone else.
Heading to the Sick bays.
As soon as the Mayor cries her grief, I'll go and talk to her, and Reny needed a decking, he recently reminded me that although he can be a loyal friend, he likes any benefits, and in this case he has a taste for riches.
Just before falling asleep from a pain killer that Sharrel gave me after Oliver rescued me, I can only guess, he thought I might be out of it enough to reveal where some of the riches where, that I had stolen from some rather unscrupulous traders, some years back.

I would have decked him too, how did he even expect to get to the haul even if you did tell him?
The wormhole moves around so much there is no guarantee it would get him back to that quadrant of space.
So how was your vacation? Azcad was interesting, Oliver has a lot to tell you.

(With Rusty and Charlotte taking the equipment the Major requested, I finish my looking over of the engines)
Joona, I'm gonna be busy a while with the set up the Major needs. Could you look after Zachary a little while? Thanks so much.

OOC: I love getting you riled up, your speeches are pieces of artwork. And with our history, you have a lot to draw on! LOL
I had no idea you felt that way. And I don't want to hurt Perrin. I want what's best for him. Maybe I should cut the strings, I don't know how to be a good parent.
The way you mentioned the Captain..did she get hurt too? Is she alright?

OOC it is fun, it has been far too long.
*Picks up the chart again and looks at it, then looks at Sci as if she might hit him with it*
Cut the strings? Did you honestly just say that? Seriously?
I need to run a diagnostic on the EMH because he either gave you some medication that affected your cognitive abilities and forgot to chart it, or he missed some serious head trauma.
I was going to suggest hyperbaric therapy to increase oxygen saturation and help your body to heal but apparently we need to turn your brain back on first.
Neither the Captain or I think less of you for your mistake on the planet, but if you abdicate your responsibility to that young man then that will break his heart and hurting him like that would be difficult to forgive.
No one knows how to be a parent, you try your best not to totally screw them up. I might not have managed that particularly well myself but up until now you have done a pretty good job.
And Sci, he isn’t a puppy you can’t return him to the shelter, and if you try I swear I really will hit you with this chart until the lights come back on.
And yes I know threats of violence are not exactly encouraged in the medical profession but the EMH is your doctor and there is a very good reason Sarina deals with the emotional and mental wellbeing of the crew while I deal with the physical.
The Captain decided to jump in a fighter and take on the Drej, one decided to sacrifice itself to destroy her ship.
She ejected just in time but as the human body isn’t designed to function in the space the Drej almost achieved their goal. Thankfully Oliver has quick reflexes and is a far better pilot than I knew. She had a close call, but she will be fine. She is dealing with the colonists just now.

OOC: To Gar: Ummm NO!!
OOC: To Sharrel: Dang girl, you brought your A game today. Thank you.
I see what you are doing. You are making me angry and that's just what you want. If I get angry enough, I'll fight!
*Puts his hand on hers* Sharrel, I don't know if I can fight anymore. With this Drej attack, its like the start of everything all over again. I'm not sure I can fight like that again. I'm tired.

*puts the chart down*
Then rest, take time to heal. You have people who love you, and need you that will help you in that fight.
If you decide never to go on another mission that is totally your choice. I would be more than happy to have our next vacation in the gardens. You don’t need to lose your mobility for that.
Your body will heal Sci, yes you will need physio but it isn’t as bad as you fear and you will have all of the support you need. Whether you like it or not.

Well until I show signs of progress, I guess I'll just have to hope what you say is true.
You and I, we are both stubborn as they come. And I can tell I have disappointed you. Maybe once all this sinks in I can get my head on straight and carry on with my life in whatever capacity that fate has chosen for me. Please tell me on thing Sharrel? We are still friends? And you will be part of that support you mentioned? Cause I feel I'm going to need that support more than I ever have before.
